    The character of a 147POT cue begins with the timber. Careful preparation at this early stage helps establish the quality, consistency and stability needed for the making process ahead.

  • 02 — Shaft Blank Selection

    Every cue begins with the careful selection of the shaft blank.

  • 03 — Moisture Content Testing

    Each selected blank is checked for moisture content before the making process continues.

04 — Shape the Shaft

Shaft Blank Planing

Once selected and tested, the shaft blank begins to take shape. It is planed by hand, gradually refining the timber in preparation for the stages that follow.

05 — Build the Splice

  • 06 — Splice Blank Cutting

    The splice blank is cut, establishing the shape needed for the joint between the timbers.

  • 07 — Splice Blank Sanding

    The cut surfaces are sanded and refined in preparation for fitting.

  • 08 — Hand Splice Fitting

    The prepared pieces are fitted together by hand, carefully refining the joint before the cue moves on to the next stage.

09 — Finish the Cue Tip

Ferrule Installation

The ferrule is carefully installed, preparing the cue for the tip and the finishing stages that follow.

  • 10 — Rough Tip Sanding

    The tip is initially sanded and prepared before being attached to the cue.

  • 11 — Tip Gluing

    The prepared tip is carefully glued into position.

  • 12 — Tip Securing

    The tip is held securely in position while the bond is established.

  • 13 — Fine Tip Sanding

    Final sanding refines the tip and completes its preparation for play.

14 — Final Finish & Alignment

  • 15 — Cue Polishing

    The completed cue is polished, refining the finish and bringing out the character of the timber.

  • 16 — Logo Installation

    The 147POT logo is installed as the cue approaches its finished form.

  • 17 — Cue Straightening

    In the final stages, the cue is carefully checked and straightened before leaving the workshop.
