Inkwood is a distinctive pale figured splice with irregular dark, ink-like veining, framed by a deep black outer splice. The natural variation creates an organic, flowing pattern that makes each cue visually unique.

Crafted from carefully selected ash and finished by skilled craftsmen, each 147POT cue combines traditional cue-making techniques with a distinctive hand-spliced design.

From timber selection and shaping through to polishing and final straightening, every cue passes through a detailed, hands-on making process to create a cue with its own character and individuality.

What Cue Weight Should I Choose?

  • 18–18.5oz – A lighter feel that can suit players who prefer a quicker, more responsive cue action and greater finesse around the table.
  • 18.5–19oz – A balanced middle ground and a great all-round choice, offering a comfortable blend of control, feel and cueing stability.
  • 19–19.5oz – A slightly more substantial feel, suited to players who prefer a steadier cue action and a little more weight through the shot.

Not sure which to choose? If you don’t already have a preferred cue weight, 18.5–19oz is a good starting point for most players.

What Tip Size Should I Choose?

All 147POT & Mark Richard cues are fitted with a 9.5mm Elk Master tip, a versatile size well suited to both snooker and English pool.

A 9.5mm tip provides a great balance of cue-ball control, accuracy and forgiveness, making it suitable for a wide range of playing styles and abilities.

Elk Master tips are widely used in cue sports for their feel and responsiveness. Every 147POT & Mark Richard cue arrives with the tip ready to chalk and play.

How Should I Care For My Cue?

A little regular care will help keep your cue looking and playing at its best. Store your cue in a suitable cue case when not in use and avoid leaving it in places exposed to excessive heat, cold or moisture, such as a car for long periods.

After playing, gently wipe down the shaft with a clean cue towel to remove chalk, oils and moisture transferred from your hands. Keeping the shaft clean helps maintain its smooth feel and prevents dirt from building up over time.

Regularly check the tip and lightly scuff it when needed so it continues to hold chalk effectively. Avoid using abrasive products or household cleaners on the shaft or other parts of the cue.
